Jan 2013 – Hello everyone, so I have recently begun my frugal life and am finding it quite refreshing. I have to be honest with you, I have been led into the frugal ideal by circumstance rather than some profound want for a simpler life but the more I read and discover about the frugal approach to living the more I am finding it a revelation and wishing I had came upon it years ago.
“Frugality – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Frugality is the quality of being frugal, sparing, thrifty, prudent or economical in the use of consumable resources such as food, time or money, and avoiding waste, lavishness or extravagance.
In behavioral science, frugality has been defined as the tendency to acquire goods and services in a restrained manner, and resourceful use of already owned economic goods and services, to achieve a longer term goal.”
To some extent I think many people have some aspects of frugal living in their lives without realising it. They would call it ‘living within their means’ or ‘living on a family budget’.
A little bit about me personally. I’m a 40 year old Australian lady that has been living in the UK for going on 13 years now. Typical story; came to see the world, met a man, married the man now a family and not returned to Oz yet!!
So I’m the mum to a beautiful, albeit cheeky rascal, 5 year old girl. My hubby is a lovely man who, apparently, is always right! He does work very hard for us though and I’m not sure he realises how much we truly love and appreciate him. I hope he does now though!
We don’t live in some idyllic country cottage or farm house. We live in a village in Cambridgeshire in a normal 3 bed house that needs the heating system replaced.
So here I am…my journey has begun and I’m optimistic about the way forward. Please join me and if we can help each other along the way all the better.
